While buzzwords like “cinematic” and “orchestral” are thrown haphazardly around the post-rock arena, I can’t help but feel that the Texas four-piece Explosions in the Sky are one of the few bands that deserve these tired and true clichés and all the wilting beauty they imply.
While the band claim they coined their name while watching the fireworks one 4th of July, the moniker Explosions in the Sky works almost too well as a description of the awesome show of melodic builds and sonic climaxes.
